The Upper West Side sound sample is located in a large alley next to a fire house at the edge of central park, where several firefighters have gathered.

The sound sample source is coming from a flock of pigeons that will always come and crowd around a patch of the frozen lake. The sound sample source isn’t a temporary festive decoration – it’s something more permanent. Head up to the rooftops to spy a water tower that continually drips water onto the roof below, and record the water dripping to find the correct source.

The sound sample comes not from anything around you, but from the distant ferries sailing around the waters near the Statue of Liberty.
