Amiibo and Amiibo Card Compatibility[edit]

According to Nintendo Japan, as translated by GoNintendo all Amiibo and Amiibo cards are supported but they have different functions and won’t all be available at launch.

This means you will be able to use all 16 Animal Crossing Series Amiibo and the Animal Crossing Super Smash Bros. Amiibo: i.e the Villager and Isabelle Amiibo. In terms of Amiibo Cards, you can use Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards (Series 1-4), Animal Crossing Welcome Amiibo Cards, and Animal Crossing Welcome Amiibo Cards.

How to Use Amiibo and Amiibo Cards[edit]

Head to the Resident Services / Town Hall area where Tom Nook and Isabelle reside. Use the kiosk on the side to use your Amiibo or Amiibo Cards. Tap them on the NFC touchpoint (the joystick on the right joycon).

It will recognize what Amiibo it is and, if it’s in the game it will work!

Amiibo Campsite[edit]

Some Villagers brought in via Amiibo use can be invited to the campsite.

What is Photopia?[edit]

You can also use some Amiibo and Amiibo cards to bring villagers to a Photo Studio called Photopia. This area exists as an elaborate photobooth for you and the villagers.

Dress them up as you like then strike a pose.
